The Vows

vowsThe Sisters of the Immaculata seek to love God with all our hearts, mind, soul and strength to love our neighbour as ourself and follow Christ through Mary's example, her FIAT - "Let it be done unto me according to thy Word" - giving ourselves completely to the will of the Father through private profession of the evangelical vows of chastity, poverty and obedience and according to the Constitutions of the community.

We also choose a fourth vow of charity, because it is through love of God and our witness to His love that will bring about spiritual renewal in our parishes and in the Mission field. Saint Therese of Lisieux said "love... is the glue that unities the body and is the key to vocation'. Love is the only thing we bring to heaven, it is eternal! It is through love that we become great in the eyes of God.

"Our first obligation as sisters working in the Apostolate is to respond to Christ's call of love: To love God and love one another - “Love one another as I have loved you, by this all men will know that you are my disciples". Love is not only for our own salvation, but also central to evangelisation and the salvation of others, because it witnesses to the power of God (Perfectae Caritatis, 6)."  (Constitutions 3, 4)
